The North Dakota Public Employees Association, Chapter 22, had a very successful food drive from October 17 through November 18th at the North Dakota State Hospital, South Central Human Services Center and Stutsman County Social Services. The food was delivered to Community Action Region VI and to the Jamestown Salvation Army on November 22, 2011. |
The citizens of Ohio took back their state with a historic vote on Nov. 8 to repeal Senate Bill 5. The vote, which marks the first time that the collective bargaining rights of public employees have been upheld on a statewide ballot, sends a clear signal that Ohioans will not sit idly by while politicians scapegoat hard-working public employees for an economic crisis they did not create.

The floodwaters rose quickly in Minot; for some, it came too fast for them to move their belongings to safety. And while the water would eventually recede, the full healing and recovery for this community will take more time to rise up than it did for the water to hit its crest.
Our brothers and sisters in Minot are still hurting, as they clean up their flooded homes, rebuild and move on. They need our help.
Through our national affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers, the North Dakota Public Employees Association was able to give disaster relief grants to any of our members who sustained significant damage to their homes caused by the Souris River flooding. NDPEA leadership traveled to Minot in September, and individually distributed 18 grants to our members for $275 each. |
The strength of a union is that we all stand together to fight for what’s right and what’s fair for the working families that power America.
Today in Moorhead, East Grand Forks, Crookston and Chaska, Minn., Mason City, Iowa, and in Hillsboro and Drayton, a great wrong is being perpetrated against the workers at American Crystal Sugar. They showed up for work Monday, like they do every day, only to find that their company had locked them out.
